New Community-led Local Development Guidance

In the new European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) programme from 2014-2020, there will be an opportunity to use community-led local development (CLLD).

CLLD enables communities and local partnerships to use different funds to design and deliver projects that they have decided are needed for their localities.

Many Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) have included CLLD in their ESIF strategies however the details of how CLLD will work in each LEP are still being discussed.

The European Commission has therefore published two guidance documents, one for Member States and Managing Authorities and one for Local Actors.

They both make the case of why CLLD is an effective tool in the new ESIF programme.
