ESF call for bids: local authority led pilots testing elements of Local Support Services for Universal Credit

This call for bids is made to Local Authority's (England only) that are testing elements of LSS for Universal Credit.

The pilots will provide learning that will contribute to the development of the LSS and act as exemplars for other Local Authorities wishing to access ESF to expand their LSS support in the future.

Activities to be commissioned

DWP wish to commission ESF supported activities in one or more of the following areas that will complement and support existing LSS activity:

  • budgeting and financial inclusion support in preparation for employment
  • developing work relevant skills (e.g. IT literacy that also promotes the ability to make and maintain a claim to UC on-line)
  • building confidence and work readiness.

The pilots will have a maximum delivery period of 12 months.

DWP expects the projects to begin at the end of January 2014, projects may run until June 2015 by exception.

Applicants are invited to submit a completed application form ensuring that the following information is included:

who their proposal it is intended to help

  • the likely numbers involved
  • the project’s relevance to LSS and ESF
  • the outcomes the project is expected to achieve.
