VONNE Conference: LEPs, European funding and the VCS
from 11:00 am to 05:00 pm
The Government has proposed that LEPs will play a key role in the next programme for European Structural Funds (2014-2020) by setting the strategic direction and framework for the new programme in local areas. The emphasis of the funds is to achieve job creation and poverty reduction.
With around 20% of the ESF funding set to be invested in activities which address social exclusion and combat poverty, the VCS has a huge role to play in setting this agenda. And with charitable funders already looking at innovative ways to offer match funding for this, there is a significant chance for the VCS to shape and deliver the programme.
VONNE has been working with the two LEPs to help prepare their outline strategies ready for submission. We have been reinforcing the sector’s role to play as strategic partners and delivery partners. This will continue over the coming months as the LEPs prepare for final submission of the strategy in July 2014, with spend to start as early as Summer 2014.
This conference is a must-attend for anyone with an interest in promoting social inclusion, economic regeneration and combating poverty. It is the chance to start your thinking about what role you may play in delivering this ambitious programme.
