The disadvantages faced by older people in the labour market have been explored in detail by The Age and Employment Network (TAEN) over the past decades. In this debate TAEN seeks to bring into the open some of the issues faced by older women in particular.

  • Do current labour market policies acknowledge the special challenges faced by older women?
  • What kind of changes should older women be seeking?
  • How far are their unique issues relating to health, careers, family and social roles recognised and addressed?
  • How will older women adjust to the changes in state pension age and expectations of working longer which Governments of all parties broadly share?

Confirmed Speaker: Sharon Hodgson MP, Shadow Spokesperson on Women, Families and Equality Issues

Invited Speakers include: Scarlet Harris, Women’s Equality Officer, TUC
